Six Bridges Book Festival presents Sarah Damoff (The Burning Side) and Nikesha Williams (Seven Daughters of Dupree). Moderated by Isis Pettway.

Sarah Damoff

Sarah Damoff is the author of The Bright Years, which was a USA Today bestseller and is being translated into 12 languages. She lives with her husband and children in Texas, where she has been a social worker.  
 
A family saga suffused with humor, longing, and heartbreak, The Burning Side is about what we inherit and what we choose, about forgiveness and the ache of being known. It is, above all, about the meaning of home and the costs of long love. 

Nikesha Williams

Nikesha Elise Williams is a two-time Emmy Award–winning producer, an award-winning author, and the producer and host of the Black and Published podcast. A narrative strategist by day and journalist always, she had published her work in the Washington Post, Essence, and Vox. Nikesha is a Kimbilio Fiction Fellow and a DeGroot Foundation Writer of Note grantee. A Chicago native, she lives in Florida with her family. 
 
The Seven Daughters of Dupree is a sweeping multi-generational epic following seven generations of Dupree women as they navigate love, loss, and the unyielding ties of family. It’s 1995, and 14-year-old Tati is determined to uncover the identity of her father. But her mother, Nadia, keeps her secrets close, while her grandmother Gladys remains silent about the family’s past, including why she left Land’s End, Alabama, in 1953. As Tati digs deeper, she uncovers a legacy of family secrets, where every generation of Dupree women has posed more questions than answers. 

ASL interpretation will be provided for all Six Bridges sessions held in CALS Ron Robinson Theater. ASL interpretation for sessions at other CALS locations and Six Bridges venues (including CALS Main Library) will be provided by request. CALS will validate parking in the CALS Library Square surface lot and the CALS Parking Deck. The entrance to the surface lot is located on 2nd Street near River Market Ave. The entrance to the parking deck is located on Rock Street and can be accessed from President Clinton Ave. Street parking is also available throughout the River Market District (free after 6pm and on weekends).
