Shift out of auto and take control! In this hands-on class, you'll learn to master manual camera settings and use shadow and contrast to create dramatic, professional-quality, low-key images. Bring your camera--lighting equipment provided.
Your camera's auto mode has its place — but it also has its limits. If you've ever looked at a dark, moody, strikingly dramatic photograph and wondered how the photographer pulled it off, the answer starts with two things: manual control and intentional light. This class will show you how to use both.
Shooting Manual: Low-Key Photography is a two-hour, hands-on class where you'll get off auto and learn to take full command of your camera, while diving into one of the most visually compelling techniques in photography — low-key lighting. Low-key photography is the art of using deep shadows, controlled contrast, and minimal light sources to create images that are bold, cinematic, and eye-catching. It's the style behind dramatic portraits, moody product shots, and some of the most powerful images you've ever seen — and it's far more accessible than it looks.
Anyone is welcome to attend this class, but registration is required. You can register on this page.
