Ron Robinson TheaterSavor a sumptuous cinematic experience with The Taste of Things, the acclaimed French romantic drama directed by Trần Anh Hùng and starring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel.
Set in France in 1889, the film follows celebrated gourmand Dodin Bouffant and Eugénie, the gifted cook who has been his partner in both the kitchen and life for years. Their shared passion for food is expressed through elaborate meals, quiet rituals, and an intimacy that words alone cannot convey. When Dodin decides to cook for Eugénie, their relationship takes a tender new turn. Beautifully photographed and richly atmospheric, the film invites audiences to slow down and appreciate the art of cooking, the pleasures of the table, and the ways love can be expressed through food. Winner of the Best Director award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, The Taste of Things is a feast for the senses—and a perfect film to experience together on the big screen. A special screening presented with Cinema I/O, followed by a discussion exploring the film, its performances, and its enduring place in American cinema.
