Join us for an evening of conversation and fine bourbon as we welcome former U.S. Senator Tim Hutchinson to discuss his new memoir, From Spavinaw to DC: A Conservative's Journey Through Faith, Farm Life and the Fight for America.
In this candid discussion, Senator Hutchinson will reflect on a life shaped by faith, family, and hard work—from his upbringing in rural America to the halls of Congress in Washington, DC. Guests will hear firsthand stories of life on a farm, public service, political challenges, and the principles that have guided his conservative journey. The conversation will explore the values that have defined his career, the lessons learned in public office, and his perspective on the future of America.
Throughout the evening, attendees will enjoy bourbon tastings and the chance to engage with Senator Hutchinson as he shares personal anecdotes, historical insights, and reflections from a lifetime dedicated to service and leadership.
Books will be available for purchase, and guests will have the opportunity to meet Senator Hutchinson and have copies signed following the program.
Steve Straessle will moderate the one-hour program.

Tim Hutchinson is an author and former United States senator from Arkansas whose career in public service spanned more than two decades. Before his election to the Senate, he represented Arkansas's Third District in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he was recognized for his work on welfare reform, tax reform, and human rights. His writing reflects a lifelong commitment to faith, conservatism, and civility. Hutchinson is the host of the Cigar Caucus podcast and continues to contribute to public dialogue through authorship, consulting, and historical storytelling.
Steve Straessle is a 1988 graduate of Catholic High School and has been a teacher there since 1992. In 2005, Straessle took the helm as principal, and in 2023 was named the school’s first ever Head of School. He continues to teach two classes in addition to his administrative and fundraising duties. In 2018, he began writing weekly human-interest columns for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette highlighting the mountains and valleys of life. He and his wife, Ann, have six children.
