Visit CALS Brooks Library on the 4th Tuesday of the month for Family Fun between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM, including table top games, activity sheets and a scavenger hunt. To celebrate OAKtober, play Tree Leaf Bingo for Prizes beginning at 5:30 PM.
Central Arkansas Master Naturalists (CAMN) celebrate the importance of trees, especially a keystone species for Arkansas pollinators and other wildlife, Oak Trees, throughout October! The March 2023 Tornado in Pulaski County destroyed thousands of native trees in neighborhoods and parks. CAMN volunteers began a Tree Restoration Project to promote the planting of native tree species, particular oak trees which support more pollinators species than any other plant, and also provide food and shelter for many wildlife species, as well as oxygen, shade, and wood for humans. CALS Brooks Library will host a game of Tree Leaves BINGO to celebrate our native trees and give patrons the chance to win prizes. The Oak Tree theme is also featured in CALS Brooks' monthly free activity packet for patrons containing word search, crossword, coloring pages and other printed activities. Banned Book Week and Hispanic Heritage Month activities are also in October's packet.
