May is National Bike Month! Join CALS Brooks LIbrary, Recycled Bikes for Kids (RB4K), Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas (BACA) and City of Wrightsville for a Bike Parade in an all ages celebration, Tuesday, May 20th. RB4K bicycles sized by request will be available for those who submit youth's name, age, and height (to make sure bike is a safe size for their riding) and preference of "boy-style" (straight top tube) or "girl-style" (step through frame) to brookscals@cals.org, by 5pm, Friday, May 16th. A few extra bikes will be on hand while supplies last. The bikes are free for the youth to keep, thanks to the wonderful supporters and volunteers of Recycled Bikes for Kids. Outgrown bikes can also be donated to RB4K during this event.
4:30 PM -Free Bike Decorations for all (Everyone is weclome to bring their own bike and decorations) and distribution of RB4K bicycles for youth begins at the City of Wrightsville Community Center adjacent to CALS Brooks Library, 13022 AR 365 S., Little Rock (Wrightsville), AR 72206
5:30 PM - ABC QUICK CHECK with League of American Cyclist Instructor, RB4K and BACA Volunteers. Checking air, brakes, and chains and review of safe riding tips.
6:00 PM - BIKE PARADE SLOW ROLLS around the City of Wrightsville Park paved walking trail, located directly behind the Wrightsville Community Center and CALS Brooks Library.
CALS Brooks Library is open the 3rd Tuesday of each month until 7 PM. Regular library hours are Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. CALS Brooks Library is located in the City of Wrightsville Community Center in between the City Hall and the Gymnasium. This library branch is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 to 4:30 PM. On the 3rd Tuesday of each month the library stays open until 7PM and hosts an art night with free art supplies for patrons to express their creativity. A Potluck Food Rescue Distribution is held each Tuesday morning at 9:30 am while quantities last. A Be Mighty Food Pantry is located inside the library and a Little Free Pantry is located in the Wrightsville Community Center Park Lot. The Millie Brooks Library Community Garden is located in the city park behind the Community Center. The library has 4 Internet Stations for public use, free wifi, and offers copying, printing, scanning and faxing services. One study room is available for public use on a first come first serve basis. Table Top Games, an early childhood playroom, and a Video Game Room are available during regular library hours.
