Sew & Sell: Fabric Apron Workshop
Saturday, November 14
11:00am - 1:00pm
Students will build on skills learned in previous classes by creating a functional fabric apron with a front pocket.
Turn fabric, thread, and a little creativity into something both practical and marketable! In this hands-on class, students will build on their sewing skills by creating a functional fabric apron featuring a front pocket. With fabric pieces and patterns pre-cut and ready to go, there will be plenty of time to jump in, start sewing, and watch the project come together.
Students Will Learn
- Hemming and finishing fabric edges
- Attaching straps and ties
- Creating and attaching a functional pocket
- Practicing straight stitching and topstitching
- Basic garment construction and finishing techniques
- Entrepreneurship Focus
At the Rock It! Lab, making is just the beginning. Students will explore how a handmade apron can become a product customers will love. Instructor Tim will share practical tips on choosing fabric, adding custom touches, calculating material costs, setting a price, and creating aprons for small businesses, home cooks, special occasions, and personalized gifts.
By the end of this two-hour session, students will have completed or nearly completed their own fabric apron, strengthened their sewing skills, and gained fresh ideas for turning their creativity into a sellable product.
