Ron Robinson TheaterIn partnership with Celebrate! Maya Project
Celebrate! Maya Project, in partnership with CALS Ron Robinson Theater and NETFLIX, is proud to host Arkansas' premier screening of "W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel with a Cause," on Friday, October 9th, from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by a Conversation with Netflix executive and former NFL player Wade Davis, in conversation with film director/producer Rita Coburn at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock.
What to know about Wade Davis:
Davis, who now works in corporate inclusion and leadership, was born at the Jacksonville Air Force Base, and vividly recalls attending church with his family at a local church in the area. He grew up primarily in Denver after spending part of his early life in Shreveport. He values his Southern roots including soul food, southern literature, and gospel music.
Davis’ career has taken him from NFL locker rooms to senior corporate leadership at Netflix. Across those settings, he has focused on how organizations address culture, inclusion, and the conditions that allow people to do their best work. The former professional football player and the NFL’s first LGBT inclusion consultant, Davis has also worked in politics and education. He served as a national surrogate for President Barack Obama and has taught at New York University. His public talks often center on leadership, accountability, and the importance of honest conversations inside institutions.
Friday's debut Arkansas screening of W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel with a Cause, will pair Davis’ career and life perspective on leadership and inclusion with Coburn’s documentary work on W.E.B. Du Bois, the scholar, writer, and civil rights activist whose life and legacy remain central to conversations about democracy, race, and public truth.
Film Start Time: Doors open at 1:00pm, and the film will begin promptly at 2:00pm. As our films are general admission seating, please be sure to arrive early to secure your seat. Beer, wine, and concessions will be available.
Free Parking:
We’re pleased to offer complimentary parking for all attendees. Simply bring your parking ticket from the library parking lot (accessible via 2nd Street) or the parking deck (next to the Main Library on Rock Street) inside the theater, and our friendly box office staff will validate it for you.
