Spend an unforgettable evening with Ariel Lawhon, visiting Little Rock while on book tour for her forthcoming novel The Pirate Queen, which will be published on September 8, 2026.
The Pirate Queen is a sweeping historical adventure inspired by the life of Grace O’Malley, the legendary Irish folk heroine who risked everything to defend her people.
Whether you’re a devoted reader of historical fiction or simply curious about the stories hidden in history, this special event promises insight, inspiration, and a memorable literary experience.This ticketed event will also raise funds so the Six Bridges Book Festival can continue providing free public programs in Central Arkansas.
Festive drinks and bites will be included in the general admission ticket price, and Ariel Lawhon will be available to sign books.
Event Schedule:
- 5:00 – 6:30 pm: Cocktail hour with heavy hors d'oeuvres
- 6:30 – 7:30 pm: Presentation with Ariel Lawhon
- 7:30 – 8:30 pm: Book signing
The first 60 ticket buyers will receive a complimentary copy of The Pirate Queen included in their ticket purchase. (Copies may be picked up at the Main Library between September 14-19, 2026, or at Ron Robinson Theater during An Evening with Ariel Lawhon. Ticket buyers will be notified if they were among the first 60 and eligible to receive a free book.)
ASL interpretation will be provided for all Six Bridges sessions held in CALS Ron Robinson Theater. ASL interpretation for sessions at other CALS locations and Six Bridges venues (including CALS Main Library) will be provided by request. To request ASL interpretation, please submit an ASL Interpretation Request form.
CALS will validate parking in the CALS Library Square surface lot and the CALS Parking Deck. The entrance to the surface lot is located on 2nd Street near River Market Ave. The entrance to the parking deck is located on Rock Street and can be accessed from President Clinton Ave. Street parking is also available throughout the River Market District (free after 6pm and on weekends).

About the branch
The Ron Robinson Theater is a 315-seat multi-purpose event venue. Part of the Central Arkansas Library System’s (CALS) Main Library campus, it is designed to provide programs for all ages including films, music performances, plays, readings, lectures, speakers, and children’s activities. The theater is equipped with a state-of-the-art DCI-compliant Barco digital cinema projection system and 32′ wide retractable screen; and, a versatile sound system capable of Dolby 5.1 surround audio for movies, with a CL3 digital mixing console with ample inputs for traditional music concerts.
