James Wethington will explore the history of the Little Rock Junior College (LRJC) football team, the first collegiate sports program at what is now UA Little Rock. Tracing its origins in the 1930s and its resurgence in the 1940s and 1950s, the presentation highlights how the team laid the foundation for UA Little Rock Athletics. Special attention will be given to the program’s "glory years" in the post-World War II era, during which LRJC claimed two bowl victories before the team was ultimately disbanded.
