James Wethington will explore the history of the Little Rock Junior College (LRJC) football team, the first collegiate sports program at what is now UA Little Rock. Tracing its origins in the 1930s and its resurgence in the 1940s and 1950s, the presentation highlights how the team laid the foundation for UA Little Rock Athletics. Special attention will be given to the program’s "glory years" in the post-World War II era, during which LRJC claimed two bowl victories before the team was ultimately disbanded.

James Wethington is archivist and engagement coordinator for the UA Little Rock Center for Arkansas History and Culture (CAHC). Prior to CAHC, he worked at the David L. Rice Library's University Archives and Special Collections department at the University of Southern Indiana for six years. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Southern Indiana in 2014 and an MLIS from Indiana University Indianapolis in 2019.
